Is diabetes hereditary? If so, what pattern does it follow?
Answered By Editor
Diabetes can be hereditary. Reports show that
more than 80% of diabetic patients have at
least one family member who is also affected
by the same disease. There is no known
specific scientific pattern that diabetes
follows, although some claim it tends to skip
every other generation.
If you are diabetic, it is very difficult to
know if your kids will be affected by
diabetes. The chances of being diabetic will
be more if both parents are diabetic.
Nevertheless, it wise to be careful about
what you eat and how you exercise if diabetes
runs in the family.
