Can anyone give me information about any hypoglycemic driver prosecuted for killing while driving impaired?

Can you answer MICHAEL S’s question about Diabetes?:

My brother was killed by a hypoglycemic diabetic who did not medicate himself properly. I am hoping to find similar cases where the driver was held accountable and prosecuted
My brother was killed by a hypoglycemic diabetic who did not medicate himself properly. I am hoping to find similar cases where the driver was held accountable and prosecuted. Yes, I know about an attorney and lawsuit info., my question is WHAT similar cases are there which have had the driver prosecuted? I don’t need advice on getting an attorney though.

Diabetes Feedback: I don’t know. I do know that you could sue him for negligence b/c he knew or should have known that he had to that failure to take his medicine would make him woosy. You have lost your brother as a result, and he owes you big time. I know that money is no compensation for a lost relative, especially a brother. I am sorry to hear of such a tragedy, but you should push further to get the insurance company to pay up for his negligence and the remaining amount to you and your family. Again, I’m truly sorry for your loss.

Diabetes Feedback: This is a tragic situation.

A good investigator would probably start questioning drivers place of employment to see if the driver had mentioned condition & was aware of this possibility B4 accident.

I know my “stroke” zone numbers with my hypertension & I refuse to drive anywhere until these numbers are under control. With guardianship of a ward, I am required to be at certain court ordered meetings. I always call ahead if I know it would not be civic-ly responsible to drive. They have never failed to excuse my appearances & I’m sure it’s b/c they don’t want the liability to fall on them after I have made them aware.

It’s just common sense to not drive when you know that you are not at full capacity. If driver claimed this as an excuse, driver should have also requested immediate hospitalization for care & blood sample to prove statement. Driver should have also pulled to the side of the road at 1st notice unable to drive. All these matters can be brought up in court. The “damning” statement your family lawyer should grab is anything like, “I was trying to hurry home to get my diabetic supplies b/c I felt my blood sugar was dropping.” This is a sort of premeditated negligence.
