Diabetes Feedback: she could get an infection and she might have to learn the hard way. I hope she chooses to do the right thing. She’s playing with her life.

Diabetes Feedback: Drugs and alcohol will totally mess with her blood sugars. Drinking initially lowers blood sugar and then hours later can make it spike. Drug effects vary based on what drug it is. Weed will not affect sugars unless she munches out but other drugs can make her high or low, putting her at risk. Even a diabetic with good control should avoid drugs (since they are illegal, this has nothing to do with morals) and limit alcohol.

Talk to your friend and see what is going on. Maybe she is having some depression and that makes her want to escape with using drugs or alcohol. Diabetics are at higher risk for depression so see if you can convince her to talk to her doctor about how she is feeling. She doesn’t have to tell them about the drugs.
