Diabetes Tips

Diet and Exercise are Only Part Of Losing Weight

When you think of weight loss you think of eating right and exercising. Of course those two are the main components of losing weight but they are not the only factors of it.

There are many other things that contribute to your success or failure when it comes to losing weight and if you want to successfully lose the weight and keep it off then you need to incorporate them into your routine.

So what are those extra things you can do to help accelerate your weight loss?

Well for one you can get more sleep. Studies have found that lack of sleep increases levels of a hunger hormone and decreases levels of a hormone that makes you feel full? So that’s going to lead to overeating and putting on the pounds.

Stress is another major factor when it comes to losing weight.

We all know that when we are stressed we are more likely to reach for that comfort food and eat until we literally can’t eat anymore.

Excessive stress can have an effect on where we store our lovely fat. High levels of stress are linked to more abdominal fat. Not we are not only dealing with more fat but we’re dealing with more diseases that can come from having too much abdominal fat.

Cortisol, the stress hormone, can have some real negative effects when you are really stressed. It can cause sugar imbalances such as hyperglycemia and can also cause a decrease in muscle tissue. Too much Cortisol can also cause your metabolism to slow down which none of us want to happen when we are trying to lose the weight.

Passing on the spicy food is not lending a hand to your metabolism either.

Spices like chili are thought to raise metabolism by up to 50 percent for up to three hours after eating. But eating a spicy high fat food cancels those benefits out so make sure to eat those lower fat items.

And don’t ever starve yourself thinking you’ll lose tons of weight because metabolism is always raised with the intake of food. When you eat lots of small meals you keep your metabolism burning more for a longer period.

Try replacing your daily java with green tea because there’s proof that it contains antioxidants that help speed up your metabolism or do like I do and make a jug of cold green tea and keep it in the fridge for easy access.

Extremely cold tea is going to help you burn more calories because you body has to work harder to warm it up when you drink it. Hot tea also burns extra calories.

There are also many natural herbs that you can take to help with weight loss including Banaba leaf extract. In Southeast Asia and the Philippines, the leaves are traditionally used as an herbal medicine to treat diabetes and hyperglycemia and Banaba has also been customarily used to help cleanse the liver in the Philippines. The active ingredient in banaba leaves is corosolic acid. Corosolic acid helps regulate blood sugar by stimulating glucose uptake.

There are many different things you can do to help your weight loss besides jumping on a treadmill and watching every calorie. Just make sure you take it all into consideration and don’t obsess about one particular area.
